Breaking: Sule extends lockdown, declares curfew in Nasarawa

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state Thursday, announced extension of the lockdown in the state by an additional 10 days.

Sule also imposed a 8:00pm to 6:00am curfew to stop movement of persons and opening of some business- premises after 8:00 pm as it was the case during the first 14 days of the lockdown which ends on midnight Thursday.

The governor said the cessation of human and vehicular movement and total lockdown of Karu local government area of the state would continue, except on Wednesdays and Saturdays between the hours of 10:00 am to 2:00 pm to enable residents purchase essential commodities in shops within their neighborhoods and not beyond.

He said the ease of restriction in Karu during stated hours does not affect markets.

He said civil servants in the state from grade level 1 to 12 are to continue to work from homes, except those involved in rendering essential services.

“Worship centers such as Mosques and Churches are to remain closed. All Markets and businesses are to remain closed except sellers of food items, food vendors and pharmaceutical shops outside the markets.

The governor however, urged security personnel, government functionaries and traditional rulers to ensure full compliance with the proclamation.

He therefore, charged security patrol to intensity and ensure full compliance to the proclamation, adding, “all defaulters will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.”
