Breaking: Super Eagles thump Egypt in friendly duel

Paul Onuachu has announced his arrival in the Super Eagles with a quickfire belter, which proved to be the match winner during international friendly against Egypt in Asaba.

Onuachu fired home after just 35 seconds when he latched on to a long, searching ball from the Eagles half before he controlled it and then smashed home.

Besides his goal, the Denmark-based striker caught the eye with his nimbe footwork, physicality and all-action style, which troubled the Egyptian defence for the 88 minutes he was on the pitch.

The big target man will most certainly be a worthy option for Odion Ighalo to lead Nigeria attack at the AFCON in Egypt in June.

The Super Eagles played with a lot more fire and purpose than they did in the final 2019 AFCON qualifier against Seychelles on Friday.

Captain of the day William Ekong was also solid in the heart of the defence as Egypt led by Arsenal star Mohamed El Neny fought for an equaliser.

The Pharaohs stepped up their game after the interval and came close twice in the closing moments, but goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa was at his best to keep a clean sheet after he replaced Daniel Akpeyi by the break.
