Breaking: Tribunal rejects Bauchi APC’s data report, additional witnesses

The Bauchi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has on Friday dismissed the application filed by lawyers of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and former Governor Mohammed Abubakar seeking to present a report of a data analyst who analysed the last governorship election results and additional witnesses.

Chairman of the Tribunal who presides over the case Salihu Shuaibu dismissed the application saying it was not appropriate for the APC lawyers to bring in new documents or witnesses in addition to the ones they already submitted.

He however fixed Tuesday 23rd July 2019 for hearing proper on the case and for the petitioners to present their witnesses.

In an interview shortly after the sitting, one of the lawyers to APC and the former governor Barrister Rabiu Garba said the dismissal of the application for presentation of the data analyst’s report and additional witnesses will not affect their petition.

He expressed confidence that even without that, their petition is still intact and will be substantiated by them in the subsequent sittings.

While one of the lawyers to incumbent governor Bala Mohammed and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Barrister Jibrin Sa’id hailed the decision of the tribunal to dismiss the APC’s application saying the application was against the law.
