Breaking: Wikki Tourists player, driver test positive to Covid-19


A player with the Bauchi state owned football club Wikki Tourists and the team’s driver have tested positive to Covid-19.


The dou were tested recently after a suspected exposure to the disease and their results turned positive.


Secretary of the club Abdullahi Ibrahim Haskiya disclosed this in an interview with journalists over weekend at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa stadium Bauchi.


According to him, 66 samples of team’s players, staff and officials were taken but only the two came out positive.


The secretary said that it was a good news to the team that most of them are negative especially that they are getting set for the expected lift of ban on contact sports and possible commencement of the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League Season.


The test was conducted by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) at the Bauchi State Covid 19 molecular Laboratory, on 14th September, 2020.


The test was organized by the Club ahead of the expected return to the NPFL 2020/2021 Season.
