Breaking: Willian secures Chelsea victory as Super Eagles youngster Osimhen nets 1st UEFA Champions League goal, Liverpool survive Salzburg scare

Willian marked his 300th appearance for Chelsea with the winner as Frank Lampard’s side dug deep to beat Lille 2-1 and get off the mark in the Champions League.

The Brazilian had a mostly quiet game but produced a rare moment of quality in the second half, cracking a powerful volley beyond Mike Maignan in the 77th minute to secure three points.

Earlier in the game, Super striker Victor Osimhen scored his first Champions League goal in Wednesday’s clash between Lille and Chelsea.

After failing to find the target on his debut – in the 3-0 defeat to Ajax, the 20-year-old was handed a starting role against Frank Lampard’s men at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

Fortunately, he justified Christophe Galtier’s decision by putting the Great Danes on level terms after Tammy Abraham had put the English side ahead.

Osimhen rose high above Fikayo Tomori and Kurt Zouma to head Jonathan Bamba’s corner kick past Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Both teams came into this tie having lost their first games. Lille bowed to the Netherlands based outfit, while Lampard’s side crumbled 1-0 at home to Valencia.
