The European Building Resilience in Complex Crisis (BRICC) programme on Thursday meets with stakeholders, beneficiaries on close-out, dissemination and sustainability action plan meeting at Potiskum Local government secretariat, Yobe state.
In his opening remarks, Mercy Corps Resilience and Conflict Mitigation Advisor Musa Abubakar, said BRICC programme has ended, stressing that the 3 remaining programme carried out by Mercy Corps in the state would continue.
He urged beneficiaries as well as people of the state to disregard rumour circulating that Mercy Corps has ended its its activities in the state.
The meeting afforded stakeholders, beneficiaries from different sectors to share their experiences on the impact of the programme, benefits, challenges and progress made through out the three years period of the BRICC programme.
A beneficiary of the Agriculture programme Mohammed Musa from Mamudo community, commended the organization for the opportunity given to them to improve their livelihood.
“Mercy Corps has assisted me with modern farm inputs such as improve seeds, fertilizers, herbicides, among others.
“Before I was getting 2 to 3 bags of maize but with the coming and assistance from Mercy Corps I’m now able to harvest 10 to 15 bags of maize”.
A beneficiary of the youth empowerment programme, Danladi Abdullah, revealed that before their enrollment into the BRICC programme they didn’t have capital to start up a business but with the coming of BRICC, he now has business of his on and has become self- relient”
In his presentations, the BRICC Programme Manager, Paul Enude, expound on the overview of the BRICC Programme impact and lessons learnt.
