Buhari, most popular politician in Africa – Ganduje

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has described President Muhammad Buhari as “the most revered and widely accepted politician on African soil” whose political influence transcended known frontiers of political development.

Addressing Buhari’s supporters and admirers who converged on the Kano Government House yesterday to express their joy for his return to the country from medical vacation in the United Kingdom, Ganduje said for his honesty and capacity to fight corruption, he had been despised and seen as “a threat by forces aiding and abetting corruption by any means.”

He noted that “his miraculous recovery is a clear testimony to the fact that God in his infinite wisdom has put to shame those who had never expected his recovery and eventual return into the country.”

The governor pointed out that the degree of prayer and God’s protection sought on his behalf in every nook and cranny in the country had been responsible for “such wonderful recuperation and return” to the saddle of leadership.

He stated that on his assumption of power, the president had adequately fulfilled his promise of fighting insecurity and the “ruthless cabal of corruption milking the treasury dry,” adding that the country had in the past been “ruled and ruined by deviant political elite who lacked an iota of integrity and selflessness when it came to the issue of managing public funds.”

Ganduje said with the apologists of corruption almost sent packing, the international community had become convinced that “Nigeria has taken the lead as a genuine super power in Africa,” adding that without Buhari’s honesty and sincerity of purpose the feat would not have been achieved.

On security, the governor said normalcy had been returned to the areas considered as black spots of the Boko Haram insurgency, stressing that no country could ever prosper with the issue of security taken “with a pinch of salt.”

In his remarks, the Personal Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Shaaban Ibrahim Sharada, said the rally had proven the fact that Buhari had lived up to his billing almost in every sphere of  human endeavour, adding that “no patriotic  Nigerian can be easily deceived to stop supporting the President.”
