Buhari, Oshiomhole, others storm Bauchi for bye-election

President Muhammadu Buhari, APC National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole, Governors of Kano, Plateau and Imo states yesterday stormed Bauchi state to flag off campaign for the party’s senatorial candidate, Hon Lawal Yahya Gumau ahead of the upcoming Bauchi South bye election.
The President explained that he was in the state to solicit support for Gumau, saying he needed people who woud support his administration to actualize its goals in the National Assembly, hence the need for the electorate to vote for the APC candidate to replace the late Senator Ali Wakili.
According to him, his APC- led government is people oriented and could only accomplish its change agenda if he has good and supportive lieutenants.
Also speaking, the APC national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomwhole said electing Gumau to fill the vacant position would increase the strength of the party in the state and country ahead of next year’s election.
He alleged that defectors from the party were frustrated by the President’s resolve to stop looting and diversion of public funds for personal use by self centered politicians, boasting that their defection would not affect Buhari’s victory come 2019.
Earlier, the state Governor Mohammed Abubakar, who expressed appreciation to the president for coming to the state to flag off campaign for the party’s candidate, said the president should be commended for getting Nigeria out of recession within two years.
According to him, the president has after bringing the nation out of recession, kept $47 billion for the country in the foreign reserves.
He also lauded him for initiating various social intervention programs such as school feeding, conditional cash transfer and asked citizens to reciprocate by voting for the APC candidates in all elections.
