Buhari supporting our mission, Bauchi guber aspirants declare

Former Minister of Police Affairs, Dr Ibrahim Yakubu Lame, who is aspiring for the governorship of Bauchi in 2019 under the All Progressives Congress, yesterday said President Muhammadu Buhari is in support of his aspiration.
Speaking at the palace of the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu on a courtesy visit shortly after staging a joint rally with his co-governorship spirant, Capt Bala Jibrin, Lame explained that the two of them were in the race to change the incumbent governor, Mohammed Abubakar, allegedly under performing in the last four years.
He said they had agreed to back any of them who enjoyed more support in order to defeat Abubakar in the upcoming governorship primary election in the state.
He also said that the national headquarters of the party had reiterated its commitment to conduct direct primary in the state which, according to him, will be more transparent and credible than the delegates system.
“We are ready to accept the outcome of the primary election in good faith provided that it is conducted through credible and direct system where all card carrying members of the party vote,” he posited.
Also speaking, Capt Bala Jibrin berated the Bauchi state chapter of the party for endorsing Abubakar as their candidate during a recent stakeholders meeting, saying it was not a collective opinion of the party supporters because they were not invited to attend the meeting.
He also said that they were working towards possible steeping down for one of them to challenge the incumbent governor at the upcoming primary election.
Responding, the emir urged the aspirants and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully in all political activities.
