Buhari visits A’Ibom again as group exposes APC

As president – elect, Mohammadu Buhari, lands Akwa lbom state on a thank you visit, a civil liberty organization, Akwa Ibom Liberation Movement (AILM) has called out state the leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of working at cross purpose with the president and other national officers.

In an open letter to the president dated March 4, 2019, the group told Buhari that leaders of the party “did not take your re-election as serious as they want you to believe”.

“Evidently, their fantastic claim to hand over Akwa Ibom state to the All Progressives Congress, APC, within three hours has been proven to be false. We have reasons to be convinced that your loss was a direct result of nonchalance by these so called political  gladiators, running around you today”, the group pointed out.

The group also noted that despite deploying federal might on the people which manifested in various forms including harrasment, intimidation and incarceration of leaders of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as well as attempting to discredit the INEC REC, Mr. Mike Igini, the APC still sustained heavy losses even in wards and local government areas where  purported APC strongmen hailed from.

“This clearly shows that your journeymen lied to you about being on ground”, adding that their action was reflective of unpreparedness.

Furthermore, the group maintained that the presidential and National Assembly election results were the reflection of how Akwa Ibom people feel about the APC.

“We agree with the APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, that the just concluded Presidential election was a referendum by Nigerian electorate against corruption and men of doubtful character.

“Indeed, in a state like Akwa Ibom, which has reportedly lost over N1.4 trillion between 2007 and 2015 to corruption under the leadership of Senator Godswill Akpabio and other men now hiding in your party, the electorate (across political party line) simply made a resounding statement, saying “to hell with APC”. They gave their verdict on February 23, 2019  and will do so again on March 9, 2019, your thank you visit not withstanding”.

Read the letter bellow:

Akwa Ibom Liberation Movement (AILM)
Motto: Together, We Shall Liberate Akwa-Abasi Ibom State
Address: No. 42b Uko Eshiet Street, Uyo, AKS.

Your Excellency,
President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.

Sir,

DON’T BE DECEIVED BY THESE POLITICAL JOBBERS

After losing your reelection in Akwa Ibom State, we are touched by your magnanimity in choosing the State as your first point of call for a “thank you visit”. This shows your sincerity of purpose to work for all parts of Nigeria and  Nigerians living there irrespective of political affiliation. Unfortunately, you are probably not aware that your failure at the polls on February 23, 2019 was not unrelated to these political jobbers claiming to champion your cause in Area Ibom State.

They did not take your reelection as serious as they want you to believe. Evidently, their claim to hand over Akwa Ibom State to the All Progressives Congress, APC, within three hours has been proven to be false. We have reasons to be convinced that your loss was a direct result of the nonchalant attitude to your campaign by these so called political  gladiators, running around you today.

Firstly, Your Excellency, despite the exhibition of federal might ocassioned by sustained harrassment, intimidation and incarceration of leaders of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, up till election day, your party still lost even in places that were touted as strongholds of APC. This clearly showed that your journeymen lied to you about being on ground.

Secondly, the hullabaloo raised by APC against the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, just days to the Presidential and National Assembly Election, was an inadvertent action reflective of its unpreparedness. As results of the Preseidential election from their various Local Government Areas show, these con artists do not mean you well. They are only using you to stay in business. For the purposes of records, it may interest you to know how each of these con men performed at the presidential polls.

1) Sen. Godswill Akpabio                     Essien Udim                                    APC (7766), PDP (5987)
2) Sen. John James Udoedeghe         Uyo                                                   APC (12313), PDP (21515)
3) Sen. Ita Solomon Enang                    Ibiono Ibom                                   APC (10979 ), PDP (32813)
4) Atuekong Don Etiebet                        Oruk Anam                                    APC (9796), PDP (25587)
5)  Mr. Nsima Ekere                                 Ikot Abasi                                      APC (5710), PDP (8353)
6)  Mr. Umana Okon Umana                    Nsit Ubium                                    APC (5840), PDP (11575)
7)   Hon. Eseme Eyiboh                            Esit Eket                                         APC (4105), PDP (11148)
8)  Bishop   Sam Akpan                            Onna                                               APC (1850), PDP (21790)

Thirdly, Your Excellency, we feel constrained to inform you that the message you send to Nigerians, especially to us in this State, is mixed and conflicting. On one hand, you present yourself as no-nonsense-anticorruption-crusader, but on the other hand you allow sleazy politicians, who wear corruption as badges, to direct your affairs. Their presence soil your hard-earned integrity and makes your fight against corruption doubtable.

In the words of the APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole,  “the presidential election was a referendum against corruption and men of doubtful character”. Yes, in a State like Akwa Ibom that has lost over N1trillion to alleged misappropriation and outright embezzlement by men now hiding in your party, the electorate simply made a loud statement, saying “To hell with APC”. They gave their verdict on February 23, 2019  and will do so again on March 9, 2019.

We wish you and your entourage safe journey back to Abuja with assurances of our highest esteem.

Yours faithfully,
Prince Emmanuel Sam,
Movement Leader.
