Buhari’s anti-corruption war has lost focus – Bwacha

The senator representing Taraba South, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha has said that the anti corruption fight of the federal government has lost focus and become a tool for intimidation of perceived political enemies.
The senate deputy minority leader said he personally sponsored a motion to support the federal government’s anti corruption fight and regretted that government has lost focus in the fight against corruption as the fight has now been politicised.
Describing the development as unfortunate, the senate deputy minority leader said the role of security agencies in truncating the country’s democracy has now become very glaring.
In an interactive session with journalists in Jalingo, the Taraba state capital, Senator Bwacha spoke to journalists on the state of the nation and political development in the country.
He said: “Look at the issues of Mace theft and security siege on the residences of some of the senate principal officers are symptoms manifest in the threat to democracy.
“The hoodlums walked in freely, beat all security checks and took the mace away in the presence of security personnel attached to the National Assembly, so, what can you make of that? “Again, just last week, there was security siege on the residences of some of our principal officers and the deputy senate president was prevented from leaving his house.
So, like I said earlier, the role of security agencies in truncating our democracy is no longer hidden,” Bwacha said.
Reacting to the recent massive defection both in the states and the national assembly, the senator said what happened was not unusual and it will continue to happen so far as the country don’t have ideological based political parties, but mere platform for elections.
