Buhari’s govt lacks blueprint to revive Nigerian economy

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, has knocked the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government, saying the government has fooled Nigerians with unfulfilled promises.

Secondus insisted that the federal government lacked the economic blueprint to revive the nation’s economy.

He spoke in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital at the unification meeting of the PDP members under the leadership of former House of Representatives member, Hon Oladipopu Adebutu.

The PDP chairman, who led members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to the meeting, lamented that under Buhari’s government there have been incessant killings, collapsed economy and disunity among sections of the country.

Secondus hinted that it was high time PDP leaders started the process of rebuilding the party towards reclaiming the government at the centre which the party lost in 2015 elections.

He said, “The will of God must be done. If you like it delay it, if you like intimidate the people, if you like whatever you want to do, but one day…there is this adage that you can fool the people some of the times, but you can’t fool the people all the times.

“Nigerians have been fooled by the APC government. Today, they say they have lifted 100m people from poverty. Do you have any economic blueprint? What is the way forward? The economy has collapsed. Nigeria is divided. We are being disgraced outside the country.

“And the need for our party members to come together, be united and start the process of rebuilding the party from the grassroots and communities. We must take responsibilities as party men and party women. It is with this that we will begin to reclaim the government,” Secondus said.

The PDP presidential candidate in 2019 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar while addressing the gathering in a five minutes video clip, expressed hope of reclaiming “his mandate” at the Tribunal.

Atiku, who commended the unification process started by Adebutu, urged Ogun PDP to be steadfast and focused towards winning the next governorship poll in the State.

In his remark, Adebutu, explained that the unification meeting was to heal the wound caused by the internal crisis that rocked the party ahead of the governorship election.

The former House of Representatives member said that he retained his ambition for the governorship of Ogun state come 2023, calling on others with similar ambition to vie with him in a manner that will lubricate internal democracy.
