Buhari’s victory: Don’t go to Supreme Court, Nwosu tells Atiku, PDP

Governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in the last election in Imo state, Chief Uche Nwosu has advised the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar not to go to the Supreme Court to appeal the ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal against President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to Nwosu, the judgement was clear in all sides, therefore would be an effort in futility to contest further the Presidential election result.

The five-member Presidential Election Petition Tribunal had on Wednesday ruled in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its Presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari on the petition brought by PDP and its Presidential candidate on the result of the election and qualification of Buhari to contest the election.

Nwosu reacting to the judgment through a statement Thursday in Abuja, said the former Vice President, who was the candidate not bother going to apex court, as all the motions brought before the tribunal were dismissed.
The AA governorship candidate, who supported president Buhari in the Feb. 23 election said what everybody should do now was to join hands with the president to deliver dividends of democracy to Nigerians.

He said, “If l am to advise, l will say the PDP and its Presidential candidate should not go to Supreme Court because there is a judgment you see and you just let go and support the President so that Nigeria will move forward. The best thing PDP would do is to allow President Buhari to continue undistracted  so he can deliver the dividends of democracy to Nigerians.”

On the judgment, he said, “You can see clearly that the judgment has shown that President Muhammadu Buhari won the 2019 presidential election clearly.

“The issue of President Buhari not having certificates was dismissed, just as the issue of security agencies helping him to win the election. Almost all the motions brought by the PDP and its presidential candidate were dismissed and what it means is that it was a free and fair election.

“Remember President Buhari is somebody who does not believe in rigging election. He said it before the election that if he should lose, he will go back to Daura and if he should win he will continue and people didn’t believe but by the day of election you saw that PDP won many states and also many National Assembly seats.

“President Buhari believes in democracy and rule of law. So, we who believe in him and are supporting him are happy. I want the PDP presidential candidate to support President Buhari so he can concentrate on governance.”
