BUK seeks Chinese varsity partnership on agric research

Bayero University Kano (BUK) has expressed its preparedness to partner with the Shenyang Agricultural University in China on agricultural research and staff development.
The vice-chancellor, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, stated this in Kano when he received a delegation from the Shenyang Agricultural University.
According to him, the university would continue to give agricultural research the priority attention it deserves in order to enhance agricultural production in the country.

“Just last month, our Centre for Dry Land Agriculture won the Africa Centre of Excellence award on Dry Land Agriculture,” he said.
He assured the team that the university would give them the necessary support and cooperation to promote research in agriculture and other areas of human endeavour.

“I assure you of our full cooperation and support to promote research in agriculture because BUK has a long history of collaboration with other Chinese universities. We hope to see an MoU signed between the two universities, particularly research and staff development.”
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Prof. Lin Feng, said the Shenyang Agricultural University was ready to collaborate with BUK in the areas of bio-gas, research, staff training and students’ exchange programme.

Feng said the Shenyang University, which had been in existence for the past 62 years, was keen on collaborating with other universities across the globe, stressing that it was only through collaboration that “you make your university known in the world.”
