Bulls return as equity market gains N149bn

Transactions on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange NSE yesterday returned to bullish trend following gains recorded by some capitalised  stocks,  increasing by N149 billion. Specifically, Market Capitalisation of listed equities appreciated by 0.99 per cent to N15.141 trillion from N14.992 trillion reported on Wednesday.

The NSE All Share Index also up  by 289.63 basis points to 29352.14 points from 29062.50 points traded the previous day.

Investors traded 387.164 million shares valued at N5.017 billion in 4654 deals against 360.075 million shared worth N2.834 billion in 4345 deals.

A review of the investment during the day showed that Dangote Cement Plc led gainers table during the day, appreciating by N5.00 to close at N175.00, MTN Nigeria Communication PLC followed with a gain of N2.50 kobo to close at N123.00, Forte Oil added N1.60 kobo to close at N20.60 kobo, lafarge Wapco added N0.95 kobo to close at N15.95 kobo, Unilever Nigeria Plc gained N0.80 kobo to close at N18.80 kobo.

Conversely, BUA Cement recorded the highest loss, dropping by N2.00 to close at N36.00, Beta grass trailed with a loss of N1.00 to close at N63.90 kobo, Stanbic IBTC fell by N1.00 to close at N41.50 kobo, UAC of Nigeria dipped by N0.70 kobo to close at N10.00, BOC Gas down by N0.55 kobo to close at N4.95 kobo
