Bulls return as market capitalisation appreciates by N90bn

Investors yesterday traded 427.766 million shares worth N11.902 billion in 4342 deals. This is against 294.390 million shares valued at N3.492 billion exchanged by investors the previous day in 5297 deals.
The trading result showed that market capitalisation of listed equities increased by N90 billion or 0.67per cent to N13.475 trillion from N13.385 trillion recorded the Tuesday. Also the Nigerian Stock Exchange All Share Index went up by 272.12 basis points to 40809.32 points from 40537.20 recorded the previous day.
An analysis of the transactions for the day showed that  Guinness Nigeria Plc led gainers table, appreciating by N6.01 kobo to close at N180.00, Dangote Cement followed with a gain of N6.00 to close at N225.00 while Glaxosmith, GTBank and Champion advanced by N4.74 kobo, N0.90 kobo and N0.43 kobo respectively to close at N64.74 kobo, N28.90 kobo and N9.45 kobo.

Nestle Nigeria Plc on the other hand topped losers chart, declining by N19.90 kobo to close at N1050.00, Seplat Petroleum Development trailed with a loss of N10.00 to close at N640.00 while Mobil Oil depreciated by N5.95 kobo to close at N174.00  Other companies that recorded  price depreciation were Forte Oil,  Lafarge  Wapco and Ecobank Transnational Incorporated which shed N5.85 kobo, N1.50 kobo and N0.82 kobo respectively to close at N219.00, N1.50 kobo and N18.02 kobo.

Further analysis showed that financial Service Sector led daily activities in volume terms, exchanging 349.927 million shares worth N1.933 billion in 2199 deals. Other financial Institution sub-sector boosted by UBA capital was most active in the sector with account of 174.692 million shares valued at N324.151 million in 681 deals.
Banking sub sector came second in the sector with a total of 77.810 million shares valued at N1.316 billion in 1378 deals. Insurance sub sector enhanced by AIICO Insurance took third position, accounting for 96.881 million shares cost N79.054 million in 134 deals.
