Bulls return as market gains N17bn

Investment in the nation’s equity market on Thursday closed north ward, increasing by N17 billion.

Specifically, Market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.16 per cent to  N10.965 trillion from N10.948 trillion recorded on Tuesday.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) All Share Index grew  by 53.08 basis points to 29202.54 points from 29149.46 points reported the previous day.

 Investors traded a turnover of 481.626 million shares worth N2.877 billion in 3559 deals against 374.026 million shares valued N3.057 billion in 3634 deals.

A breakdown of the trading activities during the day showed that Dangote Cement led gainers table during the day, growing by N1.00 to close at N186.00, Custodian followed with a gain of N0.60 kobo to close at N6.70 kobo, Zenith Bank Plc gained  N0.45 kobo to close at N20.60 kobo, Fidson Healthcare Plc added N0.20 kobo to close at N4.25 kobo while United Bank for Africa appreciated N0.15 kobo to close at N6.30 kobo.

On the contrary, Cement Company of Northern Nigeria recorded the highest loss during the day, shedding N1.00 to close at N16.00, 

Unilever Nigeria Plc trailed with a loss  of N1.00 to close at N34.00, PZ Cussons fell by N0.95 kobo to close at N8.85 kobo, Glaxosmith Kline also declined by N0.95 kobo to close at N8.55 kobo, Dangote Flour down by N0.50 kobo to close at N8.00

The result further showed that Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (Transcorp) was the most active stock during the day, exchanging 174.548 million shares valued at N200.609 million, Union Bank of Nigeria followed with account 70.613 million shares valued at N416.881 million, Sterling Bank traded 48.808 million shares costs N123.902 million, Access Bank traded 37.561 million shares cost N220.107 million while Guaranty Trust Bank exchanged 22.888 million shares valued at N758.508 million.
