Bulls stage comeback as equities gain N8bn

The nation’s domestic equity returned to bullish trend at the close of trading on Thursday, appreciating by N8 billion.

Market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.3 per cent to N27.935:trillion from N27.927 trillion reported the previous day.

The NGX All Share Index also appreciated by 15.11 basis points to 51817.59 points from 51802.48 points reported the previous day.

Investors traded 223.111 million shares valued at N3.873 billion in 4213 deals against 416.469 million shares cost N3.458 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 4466 deals.

A review of the investment during the day showed that UPL led gainers table during the day, growing by 9.79 per cent to N2.58, Mcnichols followed with a gain of 9.73 per cent to N2.03, Cornerstone Insurance gained 9.09 per cent to N0.72, Chi Plc up by 8.96 per cent to N0.73, John Holt gained 8.70 per cent to N0.75.

On the contrary, PZ Cusson recorded the highest loss during the day, shedding 9.86 per cent to N9.60, Triple G trailed with a loss of 8.42 per cent to N0.87, Prestige Insurance fell by 7.50 per cent to N0.37, Honey Well Flour down by 7.07 per cent to N2.76, RTBriscoe down by 6.38 per cent to N0.44.
