Buni commissions Potiskum township roads, drainage

As part of efforts to reduce problems of flood during the rainy season, Yobe state Governor Mai Mala Buni has on Wednesday commissions township roads and drainages in Potiskum town.

The project comprises of 5.2 kilometre roads and concrete drainages that is expected to reduce flood, enhance movements and escalate socio-economic activities.

The project is a continuation of Governor Buni’s urban and rural infrastructural development project aimed at developing towns and villages across the state.

He said: “As a state, Yobe is endowed with rich agricultural potentials, the need for good roads cannot be overemphasized, it occupies a critical position in enhancing movement of agricultural produce and livestock to the markets for farmers to have value for their labour.”

Similar projects according to him have been completed in Babban Gida, Buni Yadi, Damaturu, Jajimaji and work was flagged off yesterday for the project in Geidam town “and more towns will benefit”.
