Buni congratulates new Yobe Speaker, other principal officers

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has congratulated the newly elected Speaker and other principal officers of the State House of Assembly, saying that their emergence as leaders speak to the unity and sense of purpose that characterized Yobe APC.

Buni disclosed this Monday, after the Speaker, his deputy and other principal officers of the newly inaugurated seventh assembly paid him courtesy visit at Government house, Damaturu.

 “I am delighted to receive you here today. Your election is a clear

demonstration that Yobe is truly united. I am very sure that Insha

Allah, we will live up to our people’s expectations”, the governor said.

The governor, who congratulated the new speaker and the principal officers on their election, emphasised the need for the executive and legislative branches of the government to work closely together to move the state forward.

“We are all here to serve. Unity and cooperation are absolutely essential for us to be able to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people and delivering the dividends of democracy is the only reason that we sought for election in the first place and it is also the reason that the people gave us their support”, he said.

 Buni called on the House leadership not to open their doors to “mischief makers and mediocres” whose focus and obsession is to sow the seed of dissension and disunity for their own selfish interests.

The Speaker, Hon. Ahmad Lawan Mirwa, on his part, said that they were at the Government House to pay homage following the successful inauguration of the House.

The speaker assured the governor that the legislature will partner the executive to ensure that the government meets the yearnings and aspirations of the people.

“I want to assure Your Excellency of our support and cooperation in order to achieve the goals and objectives of the administration to serve the people of the state”, he said.
