Buratai to troops: Don’t allow terrorists access your locations

Tukur Buratai has charged troops fighting Boko Haram terrorists in the North east to always maintain an aggressive posture to prevent any remnant of Boko Haram terrorists from having access to their locations.
The army chief gave the charge in Bama, Borno state, while briefing troops of 21 Brigade located in the area.
He said Boko Haram terrorists are no longer a serious threat, but a handful of terrorists that are struggling to remain relevant, hence the troops must remain resolute and clear the remnants of the terrorists group.
He said the troops’ performance in their locations along the fringes of Sambisa forest and the NigerianCameroun boarder had been encouraging, but charged them to maintain the momentum and clear remnants of the terrorists that are still parading the their general area.
He said: “I want to encourage and commend you for the very good work you are doing here in Operation Lafiya Dole and here along the fringes of the Sambisa forest, as well as the Nigeria/Cameroon border.
“The ongoing operations, in which you have shown resilience and determination, is highly encouraging, and you must maintain the momentum.
There is no going back.
You must clear the remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists that are still parading.
“I assure you that Boko Haram terrorists are not posing any serious threat to you or to the people.
It just remains small elements that are still moving about to show that they are still relevant.
You can pick many of them by hand.
There is no cause for alarm.
“There is no reason why they should be allowed to get into our locations or dislodge any of you from your location.
You must be firm in all locations and maintain the aggressive posture and the momentum must always be maintained.” The army chief assured the troops that all Nigerian Army authorities would ensure that all the logistics and operational challenges facing them in the frontlines are taken care of.
He, however, urged the troops to remain loyal to the government, patriotic to the country, and focused to eradicate the remnants of the terrorists.
“There is no doubt that you have defeated the Boko Haram terrorists and typical of them they will try to show face, but tell them that you are also determine to finish them,” he said.
