Buratai: You’ve lost focus as opposition party, group tells PDP

A political support and socio-economic advocacy group, Fusion774, Tuesday, said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lost focus as the main opposition political party in Nigeria.

This was contained in a press statement signed and made available by the national coordinator, Mr Sadiq Jikta, in Gombe.

The group was reacting to the news circulating in the media over PDP’s call on Mr President to recall the Nigeria envoy to the Republic of Benin and former Chief of Army Staff, Ambassador Tukur Yusufu Buratai, from his place of assignment.

Fusion774 faulted the PDP over the claim that N1.85 billion was recovered at a property in Abuja belonging to Buratai.

Fusion774 said the ranting of the PDP was ill-conceived, tactless and inconsequential, as it portrays the party as a party lacking of campaign ideas.

The leadership of the group wondered why PDP should embark on a calamitous campaign to smear the personality of Ambassador Buratai, even after the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) had dissociated itself from the misleading fake reports in circulation.

The ICPC, the group said, had stated clearly that it had already apprehended the managing director of K Salam Construction Company Nigeria Limited, Mr Kabiru Salau over the issue.

It added that Nigerians want to hear an informed analysis of the contents of the PDP manifesto and advised the party to tell Nigerians what it has in stock for them if they should vote for the party in the coming 2023 general elections.

“In an electioneering period like now, political parties should come up with enlightened issues of national importance, issues that will appeal to voters, instead of playing diversionary politics,” it said.
