Bwari sensitises residents on erosion control

Department of Environmental Sanitation in Bwari area council has hinted that it would stage advocacy campaign sensitise to residents on erosion control during the rainy season. Head of the Department (HOD), Alhaji Haruna Labaran, who disclosed this to Blueprint yesterday, added that the sensitisation became necessary to educate the people “on the role they can play to clean their environment at all times.” He noted that the department had put on punitive measures to sanction environmental defaulters even as he tasked residents against indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainages in addition to littering the streets.
The expert implored the residents to always obey FCT Environmental Laws, even as he enjoined households to cooperate with the waste managers with a view to ensuring the success in the conduct of house-to-house evacuation.
The HOD reiterated his commitment to educating households in the area on the advantages and disadvantages of toilet facilities, noting that individuals household “who refuse to put such facilities in their homes would be made to face full wrath of the Law.” Labaran called on community leaders to support sanitation policies for the benefit of their people, and appreciated the contributions of the chairman towards the successes of environmental activities in the area.
