Bwari youth hail Bello over rural infrastructure

Youths in Durumi, Galuwyi and Shere communities of Bwari area council have expressed excitement over the on-going construction of an 11-kilometre major access road traversing those communities.
According to them, the project which is the first of its kind since the creation of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is sure to improve the living standards of the people.
A prominent youth leader in the area, Mr. Zaka Nehemiah, who spoke to our correspondent, said: “Let me use this opportunity to register my heart-felt gratitude and sincere appreciation to FCT Ministers, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, and the Executive Chairman of Bwari, Hon. Musa Diko, for their positive transformation of Durumi, Galuwyi And Shere Road.
“Durumi, Galuwyi and Shere communities are in Bwari Area council located about 10km away from City centre and Presidential Villa. Over the years, these communities had suffered long period of government neglect.”
The presence of government was not felt at all as the age-long problems of lack of good road, water, electricity, and health facilities among other basic social amenities.
“People of the land have on their own been engaging in community self-help projects.”
The Durumi (not the city Durumi), Shere and Galuwyi roads and public utilities projects were fait accompli to the pledge of the FCT Minister to shift focus to the provision of rural infrastructure and utilities in the next half of his administration.
Following the development, the Coordinator, Satellite Town Development Department, Malam Isyaku Yamawo, disclosed that the construction of the road measuring over 11 kilometres, including drainages was pursuant to the determination of the FCT Administration to decongest the city, by opening up that axis of the FCT for estate development.
Other benefits of the project, the coordinator said, are to make Shere-Galuwy Resettlement Estate habitable, as well as to improve the economy of the rural dwellers by providing easy access for the transportation of agricultural raw materials to the city.
Yamawo, who indicated that the Administration is already providing electricity for the resettlement town and also noted that the road would link these communities to Bwari, Kawu and Kaduna, as well as Mpape and Maitama.
According to him, the minister’s programme of redirecting focus to rural communities is yielding fruits.
