Democracy Day: FG declares Monday public holiday

The federal government has declared Monday, May 30, 2016, as public holiday to celebrate this year’s Democracy Day.
Making the declaration on behalf of the federal government, Minister of Interior, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (retd), assured Nigerians that with the Signing into Law of the 2016 Appropriation Act, the country would witness a New Deal with its full implementation, especially of the Social Intervention Programmes aimed at improving the living conditions of the populace.

A statement issued yesterday in Abuja by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Bassey Okon Akpanyung, congratulated Nigerians on the attainment of one year in office of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The statement enjoined all to continue to support the President “in his sustained effort in building a peaceful, enduring and democratic legacy.”
The Minister wished all Nigerians a happy Democracy Day celebration.
