By-election: Agi emerges APC Cross River North senatorial candidate

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Joe Odey Agi, has emerged the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Cross River North senatorial district by-election.

Announcing the result of the primary election which was held in Cross River Thursday in Abuja, the primary election committee chairman Alhaji Suleiman Nakowa, said Agi scored 113, 229 votes to defeat his closest rival, Prof Zana Akpagu, who scored 8, 635 votes.

Others who lost to Agi include: Harry Godwin Ode, Ochicha Ode and Fidelis Ebi Egoro.

Agi is an Abuja-based lawyer and was involved in the 2015 governorship contest in his Cross River home state on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as an aspirant, where he lost to the incumbent Governor Ben Ayade.

The committee chairman said the election which was conducted through a direct primary mode, was peaceful.
