Bye election: Zamfara APC laments ‘harassment by PDP thugs’

Ahead of the bye election for the House of Assembly seat for Bakura Local Government State constituency scheduled to hold on December 5, 2020 Zamfara state chapter of the All Progressive Congress APC, has raised alarm over molestation of its members by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-sponsored thugs against its members.
The state chairman of the APC, Alhaji Lawal M. Liman stated this while addressing journalists at the end of the party’s stakeholders meeting held at the state secretariat of the APC in Gusau Tuesday.
Liman challenged the PDP led administration of Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle for hiring 1000 political thugs through his closed associate in person of Alhaji Dankalili Bakura with a view to cause unrest during the electioneering campaign of the APC ahead of the bye election scheduled to hold on the 5th of December 2020.

He said, despite notifying the state police commissioner about the development, some of the APC members were seriously mercheted by the hired PDP political thugs and nothing have been done.

Lawal M. Liman cautioned the state Commissioner of Police, Usman Nagoggo, to as a matter of urgency, take necessary action on the matter or be held responsible.
“As the law abiding citizens and politicians, all APC members have unanimously condemned attacks of our members during campaign by the PDP led administration of Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle’s hired political thugs and we are calling on the Inspector General of Police to investigate the ugly trend and allow us to participate in the forthcoming bye election for the sit of house of Assembly representing Bakura local government council to hold this Saturday”. Lawal stated.

The APC chairman said, the party is prepared enough to fully participate in the forthcoming bye election for the state Assembly and urged members to remain calm and law abiding during the campaign, election and beyond.
