Bye election: Zamfara commissioner, PDP zonal vice chairperson escape lynch

The Zamfara State Commissioner of Local Government and Community Development, Alhaji Yahaya Chado and Chairperson PDP Zamfara West Zonal Vice Chairperson Hajiya Ai Maradun escaped lynched by the suspected political thugs in Rini Town of Bakura Local Government during the monitoring ongoing bye election exercise for Bakura Local Government State Assembly seat.

The two PDP leaders in the state who stormed Shiyyar Galadima 008 polling unit in Rini Town during the exercise have been forced by the thugs suspected to be APC members to vacate the polling unit but with the intervention of the former commissioner of local government and chieftaincy affairs, Alhaji Muttaka Rini and police officers from Shinkafi local government divisional Police outpost who doused the tension and whisked them away.


Our Correspondent reports that the two PDP figures were held hostage for over 25 minutes inside their car by the thugs until the police intervened and rescued them from the area.

In an interview with newsmen, a voter Malam Salman Muhammad Rini lamented how some political thugs carrying various category of dangerous weapons despassed them while trying exercise their civic right at Oroji polling unit in Rini Town during the election.


Meanwhile, the Zamfara State Chairman Universal Basic Education Board, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu Maradun in an interview with Newsmen in Birnin Tudu Town during the exercise, expressed hop for the PDP to win the election, urging for PDP supporters particularly Youths to shun any thurgery during election and beyond for peaceful and hitch free election.
