Cadet inspectors appeal to IGP, PSC for promotion

Police officers of course 38/39 and course 1 cadet inspectors have appealed passionately to the Inspector General of Police, (IGP)Mohammed Adamu and chairman Police Service Commission (PSC), Musiliu Smith, to urgently intervene in their delayed promotion.

One of the affected police officers who doesn’t want his name in print said Tuesday in Asaba said that it has always been a tradition to promote all officers who pass through the same course together except in cases of disciplinary actions.

He said, “We the Cadet Inspectors course 38/39 of 2009/2010 and course 1/2010 are suffering from this lopsided promotion.

“We are not more than 300 in number. We are appealing to our dear IGP and the chairman police service commission to do us and the nation good to promote  us together with our course mates, some have been promoted to rank of DSP while some are about to be  promoted to DSP, and we still remain as ASP. It will boost our morale immensely, if we are promoted.

“A committee was set up by the then IGP Ibrahim Kpotum Idris Rtd, to look into the complaint of lopsided promotion, the committee later resolved that those recommended should be promoted, but when we were eventually promoted as recommended by the committee, our promotion date was May 2017,  it  was not backdated to read the same date as that of our erstwhile course mates whose promotion date was  11th of January 2016,  which is a norm in the police force.

“We appeal that the IGP Adamu mni  and the chairman Police Service Commission (PSC) use their fatherly disposition to urgently intervene, review, and ratify our Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) promotion date to read 11th January, 2016 to be at pal with our course mates.

“We all attended the departmental selection board in august 2015, and we were privileged to see our recommendation remarks to the next rank of ASP. Surprisingly, some of our course mate were promoted while some were left out.

“We are appealing to IGP that we should be promoted alongside our course mates that are about to be promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

“Your timely intervention will make us not to serve the remaining years of our police carrier in pain and frustration.”
