CAF CL: Plateau United thrash Cameroun’s Eding Sport 3-0

Abuja

Plateau United yesterday made a strong statement that they are ready to be counted among the great teams in Africa as they spanked Eding Sport Football Club of Cameroun by 3-0 in the CAF Championship.
The ‘Lalong Boys’, who are campaigning in the CAF Champion League for the first time, dominated the Camerounians throughout the 9o minutes of the encounter until they surrendered the maximum three points at the New Jos Stadium.
The Kennedy Boboye wards took the full advantage of the fact that Eding Sport played the game without their coach, who reportedly stayed away in protest over team selection by his club bosses.
Plateau took the lead in the 20th minute, when the rebound from Tosin Omoyele’s penalty for a handball was tucked away by Elijah Ogene.
Sunday Ingbede made it 2-0 in the 86th minute while Joshua Obaje scored the third on the stroke of full time.
The return leg is fixed for Cameroun in a fortnight.
