CAF Confederation Cup: Enyimba storm Cotonou for Energie FC clash

Two times African champions, Enyimba International Football Club of Aba have arrived in Cotonou, Benin Republic ahead of tomorrow’s CAF Confederation Cup first round, first leg fixture against Energie FC.
A 30-man contingent consisting players and officials of the People’s Elephant arrived Cotonou Sunday evening for the game.
The Aba giants were drawn bye in the preliminary round and Wednesday’s game will be their first in the competition this year.
Energie FC who came second in the Beninoise Championnat last season pulled off an upset by eliminating Guinea’s Haifa 2-1 on aggregate in the previous round.
Enyimba’s Ghanaian goalkeeper, Fatau Dauda, disclosed that they will not underrate their opponent despite their modest pedigree.
“They (Energie FC) are not a big name in Africa, but we will treat them like one,” the former Ashanti Gold goalie who was Ghana’s first choice goalkeeper at the 2013 African Nations Cup in South Africa said before the team left the shore of the country
“The fact that they have come this far is enough proof that we cannot take them for granted.
“We want to win the Confederation Cup and to achieve that, it is important that we win game like this.”
