CAF Confederation Cup: Rangers pip AS Pelican, qualify for playoff

Rangers International of Enugu Sunday advanced to the CAF Confederation Cup playoffs after they came from a goal down to beat AS Pelican of Gabon 3-1 and go through 4-3 on aggregate.


Dertin Amores stunned the home fans when he put Pelican in front after just four minutes courtesy of a free kick.
However, Ifeanyi George drew Rangers level on 18 minutes.


Nnamdi Egbujor, who scored for ‘The Flying Antelopes’ in the first leg in Gabon, made it 2-1 seven minutes after the break, before Olasunkanmi Oluwoyin scored the third goal on 58 minutes.


Rangers coach Benedict Ugwu said he was always confident his team will qualify for the playoffs despite losing in Gabon.
