Call billboards vandals to order, Oyo APC tells police

The ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Oyo yesterday accused opposition political elements in the state of embarking on mutilation of its aspirants’ billboards and posters in some parts of Ibadan.
APC in a statement issued by its Director of Media, Research and Strategies and Publicity Secretary in the state, Dr AbdulAzeez Olatunde, called on the state Police Commissioner and other security agencies to rise up to the matter on time to forestall reprisals.
According to APC, the mutilation of the billboards and posters started over the last weekend, notably around Challenge exit to Toll Gate and Mobil – Ring Road areas of Ibadan.
“The All Progressives Congress will like to call the attention of the security agencies in the state and especially the Commissioner of Police to the dangerous trend of politicking being practiced by the opposition elements in the state to billboard and poster mutilation as witnessed over the last weekend,” it said.
It added that, it is on record that, since the Senator Abiola Ajimobi government came into being in Oyo state, security has been the number one on the agenda of APC government and we have been doing everything possible to sensitise our members against retaliation.” The party stressed that the opposition elements felt that triggering the crisis would guarantee them an appeal to the psyche of the masses or the electorates, warning that the issue was becoming a dangerous trend in the state and should be handled promptly in order to forestall likely breakdown of law and order.
