Call doctors to order, striking JOHESU tells health minister

‎The Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) has appeal to the Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole to call doctors across the country to order for  attacking  their members, while on strike.

Chairman of JOHESU, Comrade Biobelemoye Josiah in a statement yesterday said no amount of provocation could intimidate the members from continuing the fight  for fair and equitable working environment.

He described as unfortunate that JOHESU members were attacked by the chairman of the Hospital Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Dr. Wilson Awoya of the Iirua Specialists Hospital in Iirua, Edo state for monitoring the ongoing national strike.

‎The group expressed shock that Wilson stooped so low to have slapped Comrade Ogobor and destroyed the mobile handset (iphone) belonging to another of its member, Mr. Tune.

According to Josiah who is also President, Medical Health Workers Union of Nigeria, the CMAC had threatened to continue the attacked as well as sacking JOHESU members who were demanding their legitimate rights.

“We also remind government that no amount of provocation will intimidate JOHESU members from continuing our just fight against discrimination, corruption, under – funding etc, until our demands is met.

“We have declared ‘Operation Alligator Bite’ as the code-name of the ongoing strike over the refusal of the federal government to implement series of MOUs, agreements and court cases which JOHESU has won at the National Industrial Court, including neglect of our members.
