CAN seeks more political appointments in Niger

Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Niger state chapter, has called on Governor Abubakar Sani Bello to appoint more Christians into positions in government to bring about balance in the administration of Niger state.

State chairman of CAN, the Rev Mathias Echioda made this appeal at the weekend in a press briefing at the CAN secretariat, Minna.

He stated that the leadership of the association has met with Christian politicians in the state and resolved to work and partner with the administration towards enhancing the speedy development of Niger state.

He said, “CAN leaders had a meeting with Christian politicians in the state, both home and abroad, at the CAN secretariat, Minna. The meeting was a family meeting that afforded members the opportunity to discuss issues as they affect Christains in the state, and how to partner with government for a greater Niger state.

The Christians in politics were also enjoined to be more united and work as a team for the growth and development of the state as indispensable stakeholders.”

The cleric said Christians in the state recognised with special interest the appointment of Mrs Mary Noel Berje as the chief press secretary to the governor and commended him for the choice.
