Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Candido has said his administration would provide an opportunity to develop the indigenous people of the Federal Capital Territory on information communication technology (ICT) and other skills as a way of discouraging them from white cola jobs.
He urged the youth to join other Nigerians in sharing their experience and skills that would be made available to them to enable them grow with others.
Candido made this known Tuesday while performing the foundation laying of AMAC school for the gifted in Unguwan Hakimi, Orozo, in AMAC, FCT.
The chairman said, “we the aborigines, the indigenous population here should not allow other Nigerians to be the only ones to benefit from this institution; come and share whatever experience and innovative skills that are available.”
He said further said “other tribes like the Igbo and Yoruba are not better than us; we can as well do better, we can partner with them and acquire knowledge that can in turn be used in the communities.”
Candido also commended the Orozo communities for their support, especially in providing land for them to build the school, urging them to send one or two of their children to acquire better skills that can take them international.
The chairman said AMAC had already established three skills acquisition centres at Jiwa, Karu and Kabusa to engage the youth and ensure they don’t unnecessarily wait for white cola jobs and idle minds, which is devil’s work shop.
Responding, the District Head of Orozo, Hon. Dangiwa Maikeffi, thanked AMAC chairman for sitting the school in their place, adding that the communities needed more of its kind, even as asked for the provision of transformer, borehole and health care centre.
