The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said that cashless policy will reduce corruption and sharp practices in the financial sector.
Speaking yesterday in Lafia during a three-day sensitisation workshop on the Apex bank’s cashless policy for relevant stakeholders in Nasarawa state, Aaron Aminu Yeduma of the Share Services Department of the CBN headquarters, Abuja said that the policy is in line with the global best practices.
Yeduma enumerated importance derivable from the new policy to include the reduction in corruption in the system, armed robbery and high level of monetization of the electoral process hence citizens of the state should embrace the policy without hesitation.
“We encourage the Nasarawa citizens to embrace the cashless policy like other states otherwise the state will be left behind and isolated in the nation’s economic growth.”
He disclosed that the policy is already enforced in Lagos, Kano, Rivers states and Abuja among six other states of the federation.
