CBN leaked audio handiwork of desperate politicians – CSOs

Coalition of Civil Society Organisations (CCSO) have described the recent audio recording in circulation as a show of desperation by enemies of Nigeria.

They said it was worrisome that politicians can go to any length to destroy anything that proves to be a clog to their interest.

This was made known in a press conference by the president of CCSO, Etuk Bassey Williams.

He said the rate at which some politicians work to sabotage genuine efforts of government and its agencies call for concern.

Mr Williams hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for his determination to ensure that the nation’s economy continues on positive trajectory by rewarding Godwin Emefiele with another term as the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN)

Reacting to the audio in circulation, he said it was an insider-job in conjunction with sponsors who will stop at nothing to stall the efforts of the apex bank.

“For an individual to record the meeting of top management of the bank and twisted it to fit their mischievous plan show the level of desperation.

Williams called on the security agencies to as a matter of the urgency investigate the source of the audio and those behind it with the intent to prosecute them.

“The Coalition of Civil Society Organisations will continue to support the government and its agencies. They must not allow this mischiefs l maker to discourage and stop the good work they are doing. The extension of the Central Bank Governor, Dr. Godwin Emefiele is a trigger that is causing this enemy of progress.

“The timing of this audio show that some people were disappointed and are surprised that a man who worked to see that Nigeria is out of economic recession is rewarded by the president to continue. And since there are no vacancy for their cronies in the apex bank and all hope of lording it over the current governor left them with nothing but to result to a show of shame,” he said
