CCAPAD, de-radicalise, empowers youths in Jos

The Center for Community Actions for Peace and Development (CCAPAD) has Thursday, empowered some de-radicalised youths in Jos, the Plateau state Capital.

The NGO’s executive director, Ahmad Auwal Salihu, said  the aim of the projects is to de-radicalized of the minds of Muslim and Christian Youths, and empower them for self-reliance.

He said: “With support from the Mennonite Central Committee, CCAPAD, is working to address rising level of social decadence, religious extremism and radicalism as recipes for to terrorism, to reconstruct the minds of the vulnerable Muslim and Christian youths that have been identified by Laval communities.”

According to him, CCAPAD, has carried out counter violent extremism using, peace building and alternative to violence (AVP), on Boko Haram in the North eastern state of Adamawa, while in  Bauchi state, capacity building training on early signals and warning was carried on security operatives, respectively.

Mr. Salihu said CCAPAD also in collaboration with Interfaith Mediation Center, intervene on the menace of hate and dangerous speech in Kaduna and Plateau states, adding that it has been assisting Muslims and Christians orphans with educational and feeding arrangements.

He added that they have carried out phase I, de-radicalisation of 15 youths, and were empowered with startup tools to be self-reliance in Jos.
