CDs materials, witness absence stall Sowore, Bakare’s treasonable felony trial

Again, absence of witnesses and inability of the prosecution to serve the defence copies of the electronic video CDs relating to the trial Thursday stalled the trial of #RevolutionNow Convener, Omoyele Sowore, and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare.

The amended charges of treasonable felony and conspiracy trial are before Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

At the resumed trial, the defendants were re-arraigned but could not proceed to trial as scheduled due to Prosecution, Allilu Aliyuto inability to serve the defence copies of the electronic video CDs it intended to rely on.

The trial judge noted that though she had long issued the order for the service of the materials on the defendants, she nevertheless acceded to the prosecution’s request for two weeks to compile the materials and have them served to the defence.

In his response, Abdul Mahmud, said the AGF which newly took over the case from the Department of State Services was not aware of the court’s order for the service of the materials on the defence.

He however assured the court that the prosecution was ready for the trial, saying that it would present its witnesses at the adjourned date.

Justice Ojukwu thereafter fixed March 11 to 13 for trial.
