Cement company donates 2,040 bags to 68 communities

The Cement Company of Northern Nigeria (CCNN) has donated cement worth over N7 million to 68 host communities in Wamakko local government area of Sokoto state, Corporate Aff airs Manager of the company, Alhaji Sada Suleiman, has disclosed. Speaking while presenting the items, Suleiman said each community would receive 30 bags, explaining that the gesture was aimed at assisting the community development associations to facilitate the execution of development projects in their respective communities
. His words: “The gesture is to facilitate repairs on mosques, cemeteries, public wells, Islamic schools and other public structures in the benefiting communities. According to him, the company was also engaged in some community development projects like the provision of potable drinking water, electrification projects, rural roads, health-care, education, women and youthempowerment. Suleiman said one of the priorities of the company is to complement efforts of the state government in promoting community development projects across the state.
“As a corporate organiasation, we deemed it necessary to give back to the society what was given to us by supporting our host communities,” he said. He appealed to the benefiting communities to make the best use of the donation for the purpose intended. It would be recalled that the company had on Tuesday last week distributed drugs worth over N5 million to 6 Primary Healthcare Centres in the area.
Also speaking, the Chairman Wamakko LGA, Alhaji Bello Buba, expressed appreciation over the company’s efforts, affirming that the company had last week donated assorted drugs to six primary health care centres in different communities. Buba said the company had also awarded scholarship to students from the area and commended the management for the gesture urging the benefiting communities to make judicious use of what was given to them.
