Th e Chinese Government, has been commended over its interest in improving newest agricultural technology, to Nigeria and other African countries. Th e emir of Dass in Bauchi state, His Royal Highness Bilyamin Usman, gave the commendation in his presentation at an international seminar, on JUNCAO Technology, held at the Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, Fuzhou, China. JUNCAO Technology, is one of the agricultural technology that is rapidly improving the yields of edible, medicinal Mushroom and the JUNCAO, grass for livestock developments, and is today been spread across some African countries including Nigeria.
Emir Usman, said the desire for Nigerian government in seeing to it that, “we feed ourselves and reduce dependency on food importation, will be met by the giant stride by the China JUNCAO Technology, to help in training our People. Th is is highly commendable.” He said: “Because of the economic importance of the JUNCAO Technology, to my community and Nigeria, the Bauchi state Governor has established a cooperation with the JUNCAO Technology, center and we had since gotten a site for JUNCAO base in Nigeria.” According to the emir, the technology besides helping in training local farmers on the cultivation of edible Mushroom to reduce poverty, the JUNCAO grass is also of great importance to ecological and desertifi cation control. “Th e desert nature of our area, the North east of Nigeria, is desirous of the JUNCAO, grass for it’s eff ectiveness in desertifi cation control and also it’s reachness in livestock nutrition,” he said. Emir Usman, further urge for the provision of high breed seedlings of rice and training of rice farmers on new technology, that will bring about high yields of rice cultivation on the highland, in Bauchi state and Nigeria. In his the director Nigeria/China JUNCAO Technology, demonstration center, at Nabordo Toro, Bauchi State, researcher Ibrahim Lawandi Datti, while highlighting some of the achievements said, the center has trained so many famers, youths and women on the application of the, JUNCAO Technology. He said the center though situated in Bauchi state, it has been training People from the immediate communities and some others from nieghbouring Plateau State. Datti, said the target of the JUNCAO Technology, is to aid in job creation, reduce poverty and also plant the JUNCAO grass, to create wealth, feed livestock and help to sustain a healthy environment.
