Christmas: ACF tasks Christians on tolerance, peaceful co-existence

Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has extended Christmas felicitations to Christians across the country, while urging them to imbibe the teachings of Jesus Christ in tolerating, loving and living with their neighbours peacefully.
The Forum also commended the Federal Government for deciding to release former national security adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd) and #RevolutionNow convener, Omoyele Sowore in line with court orders and in the spirit of the yuletide season.

ACF in its Christmas message by its national Publicity Secretary, Malam Muhammad Ibrahim Biu, said, “the 25th December of every year commemorates the birthday of Jesus Christ, the messiah. Christians worldwide celebrate this day with joy, good neighborliness and love that the saviour is born for the common good of the society.
“Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) therefore extends its felicitations of Christmas to all Nigerians especially our Christian brothers and sisters. In the spirit of the seasons, ACF hereby appeals to all Nigerians to embrace the teachings of Jesus Christ namely, tolerance, love, good neighborliness and peaceful coexistence that comes with core value of humanity.
“ACF welcomes the decision of the Federal Government to release former National Security Adviser (NSA) Col. Sambo Dasuki rtd, in compliance with the bail order granted by the Court. This decision also include Mr. Omoyele Sowore, the Convener of online #RevolutionNow who have also been in detention.

“ACF appreciates this magnanimity of the Federal Government especially in this season of Yuletide and urges it to extend same to all those who have been granted bail by the Courts and are still kept in detention by the security agencies. ACF equally calls on those released on bail to comply with the bail conditions in accordance with the laws of the land.
“ACF is however disturbed with the recent reports of attacks by the Boko Haram terrorists on the Yobe state capital, Damaturu and other parts of Borno state in this yuletide period, however, the prompt action of our gallant soldiers in repelling the attacks is most commendable.

“ACF however urges the military to not only repel attacks, but deploy modern technology in smoking out the terrorists from their hideouts and put an end to this menace. ACF also appeal to the community to share intelligence with the security agencies, as the task of securing the nation cannot be left to the governments alone.
“ACF equally call upon Nigerians to continue to pray for peace, harmony and understanding for the unity, progress and prosperity of our country as socioeconomic and political development can only take place in a secured environment. ACF wishes Nigerians Merry Christmas and New Year in peace and prosperity.”
