In the spirit of Christmas and New Year celebrations, Ebonyi state Commissioner for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Chief Oluchukwu Ukie Ezeali (P.Noble), has donated 200 bags of rice, 200 wrappers and over half a million naira to widows, the less privileged and other stakeholders of Afikpo North local government area (LGA) of Ebonyi state.
In a statement made available too Blueprint in Abuja Wednesday, which was signed by Chief Media Aide to the commissioner, Hon. Ogbonnia Nwachi, the more than one hundred beneficiaries, including 88 women and 12 Peoples Democratic Party ward chairmen, were drawn from the 12 wards that make up Afikpo North LGA, cutting across Itim, Ibii/Ozizza, Unwana A and B, Akpoha A and B, Ohaisu A and B, Ugwuegu, Amasiri A and B, Nkpoghoro, among others.
Addressing the beneficiaries at the
popular P. Noble Hotels and Suites, Afikpo, Ezeali said that, regardless of the economic hardship experienced in the country, Christmas is to mark the birth of Christ and he would not be comfortable celebrating while others lack food at home.
He said: “My father taught me about the blessings that comes with giving. Until his death, he was a philanthropist and I have to follow his footsteps. Even the state governor, Engr. Dave Umahi, makes it a point of duty to remind everyone in his government to make sure they take care of people’s welfare. Therefore, in the spirit of Christmas, I set aside many things, including 200 wrappers, 200 bags of rice and money to help the people of my Ezi Ukie community and the good people of Afikpo North LGA to celebrate in good faith.
“Hopefully, next year will be better and we will celebrate with more goodies. I also implore everyone to bear with the state government with regards to the issue of power supply in Afikpo, especially this Yuletide. We are working round the clock to make sure the issues are resolved as soon as possible so that Ebonyi South will start enjoying steady power supply.”
Receiving the wrappers, bags of rice and money on behalf of Ezi Ukie women, the secretary of the community, Mrs Comfort Ezeali, appreciated the commissioner and prayed for God to continue elevating him to higher political positions; in order for them to continue enjoying his magnanimity.
“We are grateful for the gifts the honourable commissioner made available to us. His father was a great man and he is following his footsteps. We have been praying for his family to continue growing politically. He has been doing great things for us even before venturing into politics. Therefore, we are not surprised at this latest show of magnanimity,” she said.
