Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in-charge of Wuye in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Emega John, has read the riot act to criminals, even as he reiterated his commitment to prevent vandalism of public infrastructure in the area.
John, who disclosed this to Blueprint recently in a chat, encouraged residents to play a significant role in the fight against criminal activities, especially during the Christmas festivities.
He stressed the need for citizens to actively participate in community policing with a view to tackling crime head-long.
The police boss further vowed to tackle any form of criminality in the area, adding that the Division “has reordered success in the arrest of some cable vandals at the National Stadium, Abuja.
John, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), said constant patrolling would be conducted around the National Stadium, Ruga and pedestrian bridges to tackle any form of crime that might crop up in such places.
He advised hoodlums to find legitimate means of livelihood, warning that any criminal caught would be made to face the wrath of the law.
He emphasised that constant raids would be carried out in criminal hide-outs with a view to fishing them out before, during and after the Yuletide period.
John enjoined individuals seeking private security guards to ask for their identification before employing them, even as he cautioned residents against indiscriminate display of attractive and valuable items.
