CIFIAN inducts over 100 new members

The Chartered Institute of Forensic and Investigative Auditors of Nigeria (CIFIAN) Saturday, has sworn in 120 professional members into the Institute on in Abuja.

The Pro-tem President CIFIAN Dr. Enape Victoria Ayishetu said the institute being an anti-fraud organisation saddled with the responsibility of providing skills to professionals from relevant fields on the use of science and technology to detect, prevent and investigate fraud and put in place sophisticated mechanisms to prevent future occurrence have inducted more competent hands to achieve its goal.

She said “the rate of fraud volume in Nigeria’s financial institution which has increased dramatically to about N25.billion naira in the past five years due to cybercrimes has become worrisome and is inimical to the development of any country.”

She further called on the House of Representatives to urgently consider the CIFIAN Bill before it which is in line with global best practices.

“CIFIAN is not another accounting body in Nigeria, but it is anti-fraud of all kinds in the country, especially the manipulation of accounting facts and figures to stop looting of public funds through aiding and abating as it were,” she added.

Speaking, a member of the Pro-tem Council CIFIAN Prof. Oladipupo Adesina said without a fight on financial crime, it will be impossible to achieve the dream of Nigeria becoming a corruption-free society.
