CJN, AGF, Ozhekome set for Judiciary Correspondents’ Conference

The National Association of Judiciary Correspondents NAJUC will on Monday, December 9 hold its maiden Legal Communication Conference on the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, ACJA in Abuja. 

The Conference is billed to hold at Hotel Rosebud, Central Business District, Abuja by 9am.

The Conference with the theme, “Implementation of ACJA: Role of Media”, will also consider sub-themes, such as “Persistent Delay in Court cases, despite ACJA in operation” and “Effectiveness of Alternative Dispute Resolution” in resolving cases.

The Conference is expected to be declared open by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Mohammad, while a Constitutional Lawyer and Rights Activist, Chief Mike Ozekhome SAN, will deliver a keynote address. To present a paper at the conference are legal luminaries, Mallam Ahmed Raji SAN and the Director General of the Nigeria Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, Prof. Mohammed Tawfiq Ladan.

The conference is part of NAJUC’s way of contributing to the development of the nation’s jurisprudence and the growth of our nascent democracy at large.

The essence of this year’s workshop is tripartite among which is to sharpen the skills of Judiciary Correspondents in reporting Court cases and suggest solutions to the persistent delayed of criminal cases.

Furthermore, the conference is to enlighten and educate the citizens on the advantages of Alternative Dispute Resolution as a way of resolving disputes among parties.

The Speakers have been carefully selected to do justice to the theme and it is expected that the judiciary and the nation at large will be better off after the conference.

A statement by the Chairman of the association, Barrister Tunde Oyesina, expressed optimism that Judiciary reporters in Abuja would be better equipped for their jobs at the end of the conference.
