CJN assures judiciary workers of better working condition

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, has promised workers in the judiciary of a better working condition.
Justice Onnoghen who disclosed this when president of Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, Comrade Marwan Mustapha Adamu led members of the Central Working Committee of the Union on a courtesy visit to the CJN recently in his office in Abuja.
He commended JUSUN for the maturity in handling industrial dispute,which according to him, had led to industrial harmony in the sector.
Justice Onnoghen further appealed to the union to always adopt dialogue in the pursuit of better welfare for its members.
On the issue of promotion, Justice Onnoghen said proper thing would be done to ensure that all backlog of promotion arrears owed workers are paid to them once there is availability of fund.
On the anti corruption of the present adminstration, the CJN tasked JUSUN members to be good ambassadors of the Judiciary by shunning all forms of corrupt activities.
Speaking earlier, National President of JUSUN, Comrade Marwan Mustapha Adamu said his members welfare was paramount, adding that government must act right.
“The welfare of our members is paramount, and this not peculiar to salaries alone.
Having a conducive working environment, allowances, promotion, advancement and others also form part of this welfare.
“We commend the Chief Justice of igeria for his stance on career progression.
He made it clear that judiciary is not for lawyers alone but also for non-lawyers.
“It is sad that non-lawyers with relevant qualifications can only rise to become a director while the lawyers can get to the position of a Chief Registrar and even if that is allowed, why must you say heads of Federal Judicial Service Commission and Judicial Service Commission must also be a lawyer? So, the issue of welfare of our members are paramoun,” he noted.
