CLEEN Foundation in partnership with the National Human Rights Commission and supported by the Open society Foundation (OSF) would organize a one-day Third Policy Brief Dissemination on Counter-Terrorism Legislation in Nigeria and Quarterly Project Monitoring Meeting for Police Oversight Agencies
In a press statement issued yesterday by the Executive Director , Benson Olugbuo explained that the project is aimed at improving security sector accountability and human rights compliance in countering violent extremism in Nigeria.
He said the event intends to bring together security stakeholders such as the Nigerian military, civil defence, police, paramilitary, media and civil society, to discuss ways of improving human rights accountability in the state’s counter-insurgency strategies.
According to him , the policy briefs will be a guide for advocacy that will support security agents and the state to adhere to human rights standards and rules of engagements in all counterinsurgency operations.
He said the event provided an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss and make inputs into the policy briefs that were developed by researchers engaged by CLEEN to develop the documents.
