Cleric admonishes Muslims on social media usage

Muslims have been admonished to exhibit absolute fears of Allah in their usage of the social media.

An Islamic scholar Ustaz, Auwal Abdullahi, gave the admonishment, Sunday evening at his annual Ramadan Tafsir (interpretation) of the Qur’an at Abu Huraira Mosque in Jos.

He said rather than people to  use their phones to surf for  things that will benefit them, they resorted to go for the negative side of it.

“At least 90 percent of those using the phones to surf the social media, goes for nude images or goes about spreading other evils,” he said.

Ustaz Abdullahi, who is also the Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, further said, as Muslims it beholds on all of them to fear Allah, and be conscious of what they will surf on the social media.

He added that parents should be wary of who goes after their girl child in request for marriage, adding that they should also not use their daughters as sources of funds to their lives.
